Microsoft Xbox

Xbox is a home video game system that was first introduced in the USA on November of 2001 by Microsoft. This was the first game system to use a built-in hard disk drive to add to the functionality of the game console. The top of the Xbox Video Game System can be identified by the centrally located button-like circle with an Xbox logo, and an X pattern on the housing that extends from corner to corner. To the right and left of the housing X pattern are linear grill patterns. These are extensions of the right and left side grilled air vents. The front side contains the slide out and tray-loading DVD-ROM drive, an Eject button, a Power/Recent Button and four Xbox Game Controller ports. The Controller ports are each labeled 1 through 4, from the left to right. These allow for up to four Xbox controller connections and hence four players at once. The latest standard controller, referred to as the Xbox Controller S, and its predecessors are designed with a wing shape and with multiple buttons that enable player control of a video game. Featured on the controller are two analog triggers, two analog sticks, a Back button, a Start button, a Directional Pad (D-Pad), and six colored action buttons. The action buttons are each separately identified by a green A, a red B, a blue X, and a yellow Y marking as well as non-marked Black and White buttons. The bottom of the game system only contains the base feet and manufacturer labels. The Power Jack, Audio/Video Input/Output Jack, and the Ethernet Jack are all found in the lower section of the back panel. The Ethernet Jack is mainly used for connecting to Xbox Live or to up to four other Xbox game consoles.

Microsoft Xbox 360

Xbox 360 is a home video game console that was designed to work with wired or wireless controllers. It was first introduced in the USA on November of 2005 by Microsoft. This release was eventually known as the Xbox 360 Premium. Later, in November of 2006, a more basic console that is considered an entry level Xbox 360 was released with the name Xbox 360 Core. Yet another release was made in April of 2007 with a higher resolution HDMI video output, a larger capacity hard drive of 120GB, and a matte black case. This release is known as the Xbox 360 Elite. All of these releases look very similar in design shape. The unit is rectangular with a slight semi-circle concave surface on the front and back sides. Both the Xbox 360 Core and the Premium come standard in white with a silver grey top and bottom when standing up right, or a silver grey left and right when standing horizontally. The Xbox 360 Elite comes standard in matte black. Other limited edition colors exist, such as the Halo3 green and the Simpson's Movie yellow editions. If the unit is sitting horizontally, the front-left side contains a slide out CD/DVD drive with an eject button. Underneath that and from left to right are an infrared port, two memory unit ports, and the Connect button. The front-right side contains the Power button which is surrounded by an operation-status LED array that is commonly known as the Ring of Light. To the right of this are two USB ports behind a compartment door that opens when pushed in. The front face plate can be removed and replaced for customization. When standing vertically, the top-side of the game console contains a removable Xbox 360 Hard Disk Drive or a cover that is used in place of when no HDD is used. The back side has the Power Adaptor jack, the A/V jack, a USB port, and an Ethernet jack.
