Nintendo DS
Nintendo DS is a portable handheld game console with WiFi capability that was introduced in the USA on November 2004. The console has a clam shell design with two display screens in the interior and
designed to play video games from Nintendo DS game cards and Nintendo Gameboy cartridges. The two separate 3 inch Nintendo DS LCD displays have two different functions. The top LCD screen displays
the game activity while the bottom LCD screen is a touch-sensitive LCD that is used for interacting with the game. The Nintendo DS touch screen is designed to work with a Nintendo DS stylus but
will react to anything else that applies pressure to the touch screen LCD. Button controls are located on both sides of the bottom screen. The left side cross-shaped button is referred to as
the Directional Pad. The D-Pad, as it is more commonly known, is a set of four buttons that are configured in a cross shape. These are used to control game activity by allowing game movement to
the left, right, up and down directions. To the top of the D-Pad is a narrow Power Button. On the right side are located four buttons labeled A, B, X, and Y. To the top of these are the Select
and Start buttons. Left and Right buttons are located on the top corners of the bottom half of the system. This system is equipped for audio. Two stereo speakers are located towards the bottom
corners of the upper half of the system; One on each side of the LCD. This game system is also equipped with a built-in microphone that is located below the left side of the bottom screen. The
microphone is used for player interaction. The Nintendo DS Battery is specified to last up to 10 hours on a full 1 hour charge.
Nintendo DS Lite
Nintendo DS Lite is a portable handheld game console with WiFi capability. The DS Lite, abbreviated as DSLite or Lite, is a slimmer and lighter re-design improvement of the original DS. The
Nintendo DSLite was introduced in the USA on June of 2006 in seven colors. These colors are Ice Blue, Enamel Navy, Polar White, Coral Pink, Onyx Black, Metallic Rose, and Gloss Silver. The
console has a clam shell design with two display screens in the interior and designed to play video games from Nintendo DS Game Cards and Nintendo Gameboy cartridges. The two separate 3 inch
Nintendo DS Lite LCD displays have two different functions. The top LCD screen displays the game activity while the bottom LCD screen is a touch-sensitive LCD that is used for interacting with
the game. The Nintendo DS Lite touch screen is designed to work with a Nintendo DS stylus but will react to anything else that applies pressure to the touch screen LCD. DS Lite Button controls
are located on both sides of the bottom screen. The left side cross-shaped button is referred to as the Directional Pad or D-Pad. On the right side are located four buttons labeled A, B, X,
and Y. To the bottom of these are the Select and Start buttons. Left and Right buttons are located on the top corners of the bottom half of the system. The DS Lite power switch is located
on the bottom left side of the unit. Designed for stereo sound, this unit has two speakers. Each is located on the opposite sides of the LCD. This game system is also equipped with a built-in
microphone that is used for player interaction. The microphone is located between the top LCD and the bottom LCD. The Nintendo DS Lite Battery is specified to last between 15 to 19 hours on
the lowest brightness setting and with a full 3 hour charge.
Nintendo Game Cube
Nintendo GameCube is a home game console that was released by Nintendo in the USA in late 2001. The GameCube is offered in three colors: indigo, platinum, black. Limited edition quantities
of other colors also exist. GameCube's name derives from its characteristic cube-like shape. It was developed for portability as apparent by its small size and built-in carrying handle.
The top of the GameCube console has three buttons and a popup loading optical drive that is similar to that of a top-loading CD/DVD player. The top three buttons are labeled Power, Reset,
and Open. The optical drive is used to play Nintendo GameCube Game Discs. These are 3 1/8 inch diameter disks similar to the small 12 cm CDs. The front side of this player has two memory
card slots labeled Slot-A and Slot-B as well as four circular controller ports. The top of each controller port is marked with 1, 2, 3, or 4 dots to identify the port. The standard GameCube
controller is designed as a wing grip and contains a variety of buttons that can be easily used to control game activity. These include a directional pad (also known as a D-pad), two analog
sticks and eight control buttons: A, B, X, Y, Z, L, R, and a Start/Pause. The GameCube bottom side has three removable covers labeled Hi Speed Port, Serial Port1, and Serial Port 2. In some
models, Serial Port 2 is not present and hence the third removable cover is not labeled. An older version of this video game player has 3 ports on the back side. These are the DC12V In, Digital
AV Out, and Analog AV Out ports. In the newer version, one of the back side ports was eliminated so that only the DC 12V In port and the Analog AV Out port remains. The built-in semi-circle
carrying handle is located on the back side for all of the models.
Nintendo Wii
Wii is a home game console that was released by Nintendo in the USA on November of 2006. The Wii is offered in one basic color which is white. Limited edition quantities of other colors
also exist. Wii was developed to encourage the use of this gaming system by a broader group of people than those previously enjoying video games. For this reason the name Wii was selected.
It imitates the word “we” and implies that the game console is for everyone. Additionally, the Nintendo Wii comes standard with a wireless controller that is referred as the Wii Remote or the
Wiimote. The Wii Remote contains buttons and also responds to movement that controls the video game action. A Power Button, a D-Pad, 6 action buttons, a speaker, and 4 square LED lights can be
seen on the top of the remote. The bottom of this controller contains a trigger like button. The Wii game console is a slender rectangle and designed to sit up-right vertically on a base stand
or horizontally on one of its larger sides. The front side can be identified by the illuminated slot loading optical media drive. This same side also contains a Power, Reset, and Eject button
as well as a SD Card Slot that is under a noticeable cover. Two USB ports are located in the rear side. The Top Side has a flip-open panel that contains ports to provide backward compatibility
with Nintendo GameCube games. For versatility and for cross-model compatibility, the Wii also supports Nintendo DS game consoles through their respective wireless features so that these can be
used as limited controllers for Wii games.
